ANDREW DOMINICK

Quick Facts: Born and raised in Norwalk, CT, really into street photography, exploring restaurants. Breweries, and bars that I’m not covering for work, second degree black belt. Former full-time digital editor, mostly a food journalist mercenary for CTbites, Westchester and Hudson Valley magazines, Connecticut Magazine, Fairfield Magazine, The Beverage Journal, and The Valley Table

My current food cravings are: Always in search of the best tacos and I never get tired of pizza

The only fast food I will eat is: McDonald’s breakfast

If I could be any Iron Chef, I would be: I don’t want to say Bobby Flay because in person I’m not a fan, but he’s so damn good at food battles.

My favorite restaurant in Connecticut is: The Cottage

My favorite restaurant in Westchester is: The Cookery

My favorite restaurant in the Tri-State area is: I’m cheating on this question. I never really spend time in Jersey, but Philly is pretty damn close. For me it’s Vetri and Zahav. It’s a 1.a. 1.b. thing. This could change when I finally eat at Blue Hill at Stone Barns or Blanca.

Restaurant dish I wish I could make at home: Momofuku’s KO’s cold fried chicken or Eleven Madison Park’s honey-lavender duck

My go-to dinner party entrée is: Never heard any complaints when I make baked ziti with sausage and pepperoni. Heavy on the mootz.

When I’m not eating, I’m…Usually at the gym or the martial arts dojo.

Prepared food I have let people think was home-made…I used to make homemade marinara, but we have so many good, local brands that eliminate all the simmer time. Shout-out to Wise Guys. Best tomato sauce!

I’d rather pick (pumpkins, apples, or strawberries…) I’d almost never do this but if I did…Strawberries. I could eat ‘em by the bucket.

The last book I enjoyed was: Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee

My favorite movie of all time is: Grosse Pointe Blank, True Romance, Se7en, and Pulp Fiction are some faves. Anything Marvel Comics I’m a sucker for, too.
