Bobo's Café Opens New Location: Baldwin Place Makes Three
In continuing their domination of Northern Westchester, Craig and Glen Bernardi, the two brothers behind Bobo’s Café, opened their third location in Baldwin Place a week before the Covid-19 pandemic forced them to temporarily close their doors. All three cafes are open once again, with an app making contact-free ordering for curbside pickup a snap. You can also meander up to the door and place an order but be forewarned – these joints are hopping.
Baldwin Place joins the original Somers location, and the second one opened last year in Chappaqua, as a go-to spot for great coffee drinks, an elevated café menu, and convivial atmospheres. If they did a reboot of “Cheers” in a café, Bobo’s could be the inspiration.
“We look for communities that allow us the opportunity to really get to know people in town,” says Craig.
Whether it’s the mix of senior citizens and high school students in Somers, the commuters and lunch crowd in Chappaqua, or the new residents in condos in Baldwin Place – Bobo’s appeals to them all.
The menu at Bobo’s ranges from killer bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches to acai or basmati rice bowls and great desserts. “We started out with the basics and slowly branched out to appeal to different age groups and eating habits,” Craig says. The pair also has fun with specials, with a refreshing watermelon juice making an appearance in Baldwin Place, a chicken cutlet wrap in Chappaqua, and edible cookie dough in all three locations. The menu shows that food can not only be delicious, but fun to order – whether it be a Bo-rrito or a Shmelt. The brothers both have food in their blood – their father and grandfather owned delis and Craig and Glen have worked at Italian restaurants in the county. (Celebrity sighting: seeing Papa Bernardi holding court with his friends at a table.) “Opening in Baldwin Place is taking us back to our roots as our father’s deli was on Route 6 in Mahopac,” Craig says. The Bernardi’s network of family and friends has allowed for the expansion, Craig says. “We have an amazing team in place that has allowed us to grow.”
